What We Do

Level I Training. Level I training provides instruction to educators on how to incorporate the Project CRISS theory and strategies into their everyday classroom instruction.

Level II Training. Level II training prepares educators to become CRISS-certified District Trainers. To learn the pre-requisites for this training, please click here.

CRISS Cornerstones. The Cornerstones booklet and accompanying video on CD-ROM provide on-going support for teacher teams in Project CRISS implementation. To learn more about Cornerstones, click here.

CRISS for Administrators. This administrators booklet, plus video on CD-ROM, provides guidance to administrators and CRISS implementation teams on how to plan, implement, and maintain Project CRISS in a school or district. To learn more about CRISS for Administrators, click here.

CRISS for Students. CRISS for Students: It's a Brain Thing ~ Learning How to Learn! is a semester curriculum designed to teach the CRISS principles and strategies directly to students. This curriculum is appropriate for students in grades 6-9. To learn more about CRISS for Students, click here.

CRISS for Parents. The CRISS for Parents flipbook and workshop acquaint parents with the learning principles and ten of the strategies their students are using in class. To learn more about CRISS for Parents, click here.

CRISS for Homeschool Parents. This booklet provides guidance to parent educators who home school their children, by helping them incorporate the CRISS principles and strategies into their children's learning experiences.

LEVEL I TRAINING

*Note: Due to the active nature of this workshop, the maximum number of participants is 30.

Training and support materials: $70.00* per participant (plus shipping and handling—please see order form). This fee is reduced to $55.00* per participant when a district employee becomes a certified CRISS District Trainer and facilitates his or her district's Level I workshops. For this fee, each participant receives a 305-page training manual and a tri-annual e-newsletter with implementation ideas and follow-up support. In addition, the National Trainer will provide the district/school with an original copy of the "Materials Packet," a collection of reading selections and strategy forms to be used during the training. The site will make a copy of the packet for each participant.

Consultant fee: Additional costs are those contracted between the district and the CRISS National Trainer(s) hired to do the workshop. Such costs would include travel, lodging, car rental (if needed), meals, and daily honorarium. The honorarium fee is $1,000* per six-hour day when booked through the CRISS office. (All trainings are 12-18 hours, over at least a two-day period.) In addition, if a trainer must spend four or more hours for travel on a non-training day, the trainer will charge 50% of the daily rate for that day.

School or district expenses: Other costs might include the cost of teacher release time, cost of substitute teachers, teacher stipends, room rental, and meals and/or break food.

To attend another district's Level I training: The cost is determined by the hosting district and depends on space availability, the cost of hiring the National Trainer, etc. Typical costs range from $150.00 to $250.00 per participant.

• CRISS Cornerstones—for follow-up support after Level I training, $35.00 per teacher (plus shipping and handling). Cornerstones materials are used by teachers independently and within teacher teams. No CRISS certified trainer is needed.Back to top

• CRISS for Students: It's a Brain Thing ~ Learning How to Learn! provides a semester curriculum for students in grades 5-9 that teaches the CRISS principles and strategies in a learning plan format directly to students. The class can only be taught by CRISS-trained teachers, and it will be most successful if the students' other teachers are also CRISS-trained and utilizing the principles and strategies in their everyday instruction. The following prices do not include shipping and handling.No CRISS certified trainer is needed, although a one-day training to assist in implementation is available. Contact the CRISS office for more information about this training.

LEVEL II TRAINING

Level II training is one of the requirements for CRISS District Trainer certification. This training is facilitated only by a Certified CRISS Master Trainer. The maximum number of participants is 12 per Master Trainer and 24 per session (with two Master Trainers)—firm.

Training and support materials: $250.00 per participant (plus shipping and handling—please see order form). All participants receive a CD containing the Level I training in PowerPoint®, an awareness presentation in PowerPoint®, the training script in PDF, and the workshop handout in PDF. Also, they receive a three-ring binder with hard copies of all training materials provided on the CD, with general information about their requirements and responsibilities as a trainer, and with forms necessary for training and reporting to the CRISS office. In addition, they receive many other awareness, training, and support materials, including the CRISS Crafter, the e-newsletter for trainers published three times a year.

All Level II participants must meet certain requirements before attending (as outlined in "Requirements for Certification as a District Trainer"). In addition, they must apprentice at a Level I training, with a qualified CRISS Trainer, before receiving their certification. You should consider these costs when budgeting.

To attend another district's Level II training: The cost is determined by the hosting district and depends on space availability, the cost of hiring the Master Trainer, etc. Typical costs range from $750-$1000 per participant and include all training materials.
